Chapter 443 : Get Us as Many New Prospect as You Can
“The students from Hua University always look down on non-professionals,” President Mu said. “They still don’t know that much about you yet. All they know is that you’re extremely proficient in history and ancient language. It’s most likely the never learned that you’re also extremely well-versed in aerospace engineering as well. If we really have a competition, they won’t think of you as a threat. That’s when you finally show your card and throw them off their chairs!”
Tan Mo looked at the university president and couldn’t help but think, ‘President, your imagination is starting to run wild…’
“Now that we’re talking about this, how I wish I could go and see the reaction of those Hua University professors!” President Mu sighed and decided that he should ask someone to record the whole thing for him. Even if he couldn’t be there, he still wanted to witness how Tan Mo crushed their competition.
All the president of Beijing University had for Tan Mo was trust. He could tell that the young lady was still hiding her real talent and that she was also good in mathematics.
“Then, when are we leaving?” Tan Mo had already given up on arguing as she wanted to go as well.
It would be a good chance for her to get away from Wei Zhiqian for a while. She was afraid that she couldn’t hold her feeling in front of him any longer.
“We shouldn’t drag this out. You’ll be leaving tomorrow,” President Mu replied. “Now that the scores have been announced, every university is diverting all of their manpower to recruiting new students. The high school seniors will be returning to their school next week and will start registering for the universities they want to attend. We should invite them and make them come to our university before that. If we’re even one second late, we will miss the chance. If you are okay with going, I’ll get someone to buy you a plane ticket, and you’ll leave with Professor Yao tomorrow.”
“Sure thing.” Tan Mo nodded.
After leaving the president’s office, Tan Mo sent Wei Zhiqian a message. “Uncle, I don’t think I can go shopping with you tonight. I have to leave with my professors to Jiaoyuan City tomorrow to recruit new students to our university. I have to start packing tonight.”
“Okay. How long will you be gone?” Wei Zhiqian asked.
“Oh, no! I forgot to ask President Mu about that. I don’t think it will be long though.”
“Okay.”
Tan Mo told Ming Yeqing and Qin Muye about the trip when they had lunch together.
“Oh! What a coincidence!” Ming Yeqing exclaimed. “We are going as well, but we’re going to Xiangnan City.”
Tan Mo raised a brow, realizing her university had sent some of their best students out to recruit new freshmen.
“Then, won’t I be the only one left here?” Qin Muye wailed as the feeling of loneliness suddenly struck her.
“Should I ask President Mu to let you join our team?” Ming Yeqing suggested. Since his mother was a member of the school board, he was sure that the president wouldn’t mind it if he made that request.
Plus, the one who would be joining them was Qin Muye. Even if Ming Yeqing’s mother wasn’t a board member, he was confident that President Mu wouldn’t refuse either.
“Just think of it as going on a trip.” Ming Yeqing smiled. “There are a lot of good restaurants and places to visit in Xiangnan City.”
When Qin Muye heard there would be a lot of good food, her eyes widened with excitement.
“Really? Can I really go?” Qin Muye asked.
“Of course.” Ming Yeqing nodded. “I’m sure President Mu would be pleased if you came with us.”
“Qing’s right,” Tan Mo agreed. “I’m sure that President Mu was reluctant to ask you because you’re from the Qin family. He’s going to be delighted if you request to join them.”
“I’ll go ask President Mu after lunch,” Ming Yeqing said.
The talk with President Mu went smoothly after that.
Just as Ming Yeqing and Tan Mo had expected, the president agreed to let Qin Muye join Ming Yeqing’s group without any hesitation.
With the approval, Qin Muye started to pack her stuff excitedly.
Since Tan Mo did not have classes after lunch, she went to Professor Gu’s research room.
When Ying Siyuan saw Tan Mo coming in, he said, “Tan Mo, I heard you are going to recruit some new freshmen.”
“Yes. I’m heading to Jiaoyuan City. Tan Mo nodded and asked, “Are you going too?”
“No. We are graduate students.” Ying Siyuan shook his head and smiled. “Recruitments are always done by undergraduates.”
“Oh, right!” Tan Mo gently knocked her head. “How could I forget about that?”
“Did you also forget that you’re the only undergraduate on this research team?” Wang Yuemu laughed.
“I guess she did.” Xu Hongyu sighed. “She’s been with us for too long that she totally forgot about that.”
“Tan Mo!” Professor Gu greeted happily when he arrived and saw Tan Mo. “Good. You’re here! I was about to call you.”
“What’s wrong, Professor Gu?” Tan Mo asked, curious as to why the professor was looking for her since there wasn’t any major event for the research team for the next few months.
“I heard from President Mu that you’re heading to Jiaoyuan City for the recruitment,” Professor Gu said as he pulled a random chair and sat down.
“Yes. This time, we’re focused on finding potential freshmen for the Department of Mathematics because Professor Yao will be leading us. I heard from the president that the professor is very interested in the top science scorer in Jiaoyuan City,” Tan Mo said without hiding anything. “Students from the finance, history, and Chinese literature departments will be joining us as well.”
“Forget about the math major.” Professor Gu smiled. “That has nothing to do with us. Can you find a way to get the top liberal arts scorer to our Chinese major? Not only the top scorer but also ones that are good enough to study here or at Hua University. Try and convince them to put the Chinese literature major as their first choice.”
“Okay.” Tan Mo nodded. “I can’t assure that it will work, but I’ll try my best.”
Tan Mo did not expect that when she went to Professor Tang’s research room that the professor would request the same thing from her as well.
“Jiaoqi Province has been producing amazing talents every year, and Jiaoyuan City is where most of them come from. Because of how good all the students in the city are, the minimum required total score to study in our university or Hua University is also higher than other places,” Professor Tang explained. “That’s why those that got accepted by us are some of the best this country has to offer. Since they are going to choose between us and Hua University, why not persuade them to come to us? Since they are going to study here, we’ll have to make sure they choose our major, right?”
Tan Mo was rendered speechless for the second time on the same day.
What kind of logic was that?
She couldn’t help but sigh in her head.
“Okay.” Tan Mo nodded. All she could do when the time came was to let the students choose between Chinese literature or history majors.
However, when she went to Professor Yue’s research room, the professor was there waiting for her as well.
She couldn’t help but wonder if the professors had pre-planned everything and were just waiting for her.
“Tan Mo, I heard you’re heading to Jiaoyuan City for the recruitment,” Professor Yue said.
Tan Mo nodded and told Professor Yue the same thing she told two other professors before that.
“Wait, so no one from our major is going to be part of your team?” Professor Yue asked.
‘No, you wait! Since when am I part of your major?’ Tan Mo yelled in her head.
“Then, our major has no choice but to rely on you.” Professor Yue smiled.
