Chapter 449  : Is Everyone Like This?

Since they were a large group, Mr. Sun booked them a private dining room at the restaurant so they could discuss their itinerary without any interruptions.

Once they reached the restaurant, Mr. Sun took care of ordering the food while the rest headed to the private dining room.

The restaurant still used a traditional way of ordering food in which they had a counter specifically set up for that.

Next to the counter was the seafood section with a few clear containers showcasing the live seafood available for purchase, allowing the customer to choose the kind of fish or other seafood they wanted.

However, since Jiaoyuan wasn’t a coastal city, the prices for the seafood were higher.

On the wall behind the counter were pictures of all the food they served, allowing customers to select accordingly.

Since seafood wasn’t the specialty of Jiaoyuan City, Mr. Sun decided not to order it. Instead, he ordered a few of the local specialties and a few dishes that could widely be found across the country.

As soon as Mr. Sun got back to the private dining room, he got a call from President Mu’s assistant.

“Oh? I see. Alright. Thank you for notifying me.” Mr. Sun nodded and hung up the call before addressing the rest of the group. “That was the president’s assistant. He just told me that Mr. Zhu from the Department of Aerospace Engineering will be joining us as well. He has just touched down and is on his way here. I reckon he’ll be here around one. What do you guys say? Should we wait for him?”

Mr. Sun wasn’t worried that Mr. Zhu would be coming as they had different targets.

Professor Yao raised a brow before saying, “Sure, let’s wait for him.”

Even though the professor had a smile on his face, he was cursing Professor Yue in his head.

When did Professor Yue become so cunning too?

As they waited for their food to arrive, Tan Mo got a notification on her phone.

It was a friend request from Mr. Zhu.

As soon as she accepted the request, she got a message from the lecturer with a map pinpointing where he was.

“I’m almost at the hotel. Tan Mo, can you please stall them, especially Professor Yao? We can’t let him get his hands on the top scorer first!” Mr. Zhu wrote in his message.

Tan Mo looked at her phone and thought, ‘Wow! Mr. Zhu sure is giving his all!’

“Don’t worry. Mr. Sun has just suggested we wait for you before we discuss the itinerary, and Professor Yao has agreed to it,” Tan Mo replied and sent a location. “We’re at the restaurant not far from the hotel.

“Okay. Thanks.”

“Will Mr. Zhu be eating with us?” Ms. Hu asked.

“Ah, he told us to eat first. He ate on the plane,” Mr. Sun replied.

After hearing that, everyone began to dig into their meal.

“The top scorer of Jiaoqi Province for both the science and liberal arts are in Jiaoyuan City. The top scorer for liberal arts is from Jiaoyuan First High School. His name is Zhang Shipeng. The top scorer for science is Lin Jingyuan from Jiaoyuan Second High School,” Professor Yao said as they ate. “Sun and Hu, you two will take Tan Mo, Lin Fuxi, Song Mingqi, and Wei Haosong to Jiaoyuan First High School to recruit Zhang Shipeng. Also, try and recruit those who have scored well enough to study at our university. Mr. Zhu and I will take Du Zeyang and Chi Xuanzi to Jiaoyuan Second High School to recruit Lin Jingyuan. I believe a few universities have already set up booths in those two places. I guess we will need someone to stand at the booth in case some of the students are interested.”

Even though they were eyeing to get the top scorers to their university, there was no need for everyone to go.

“If that’s the case, Hu, why don’t you handle the booth with Lin Fuxi, Song Mingqi, and Wei Songhao?” Mr. Sun suggested with a smile. “I’ll go recruit Zhang Zhipeng with Tan Mo.”

Tan Mo immediately turned to look at the lecturer. She had never expected that Mr. Sun could suggest that with a smile on his face.

If he could make Ms. Hu stay at the booth, then he would have a higher chance of inviting the top scorer to take up the Chinese literature major.

“How about we just leave Lin Fuxi, Song Mingqi, and Wei Haosong to handle the booth?” Ms. Hu smiled. “And I’ll join you and Tan Mo.”

“Will they be okay without a supervisor?” Mr. Sun asked.

“Why don’t we let Mr. Zhu handle that?” Professor Yao suddenly suggested.

This time, everyone turned to look at Professor Yao with the same thought in their minds.

‘Are you sure you want to do that? Professor Yue is going to kill you if he hears that.’

Perhaps because everyone’s stare was too obvious, Professor Yao quickly let out a cough and explained, “I’m just saying. Of course, we can’t let Mr. Zhu handle that.”

He quickly checked his phone so that it wouldn’t be that awkward. However, that only made him frown even more.

“The people from Hua University are here too,” Professor Yao said.

“What? Do you have a snitch or something there?” Mr. Sun asked.

If that was the case, then there was no way Mr. Zhu alone would be enough to win against the mathematic major.

In the end, Mr. Zhu took upon the task at the last second and had not prepared anything to go against Professor Yao, who had weeks to prepare.

That was why Professor Yao didn’t mind waiting for Mr. Zhu to arrive and even agreed to let the lecturer go to Jiaoyuan Second High School with him.

“Ah, no. Professor Jiao from Hua University’s mathematic major just posted on his social media,” Professor Yao explained.

“Wait! So, the head of Hua University’s Department of Mathematics is here personally too?” Ms. Hu asked.

“Who would’ve thought that everyone was eyeing the top scorer this much?” Song Mingqi exclaimed.

“Well, it’s not like we really need the top scorer. To be honest, it’s not like the top scorer is really that amazing. It’s more of a competition between us and Hua University. Everyone is wondering who will win. Will Hua University get more talented students, or will we get more of them? Who will be able to win this recruitment process?” Professor Yao explained. “There will be a lot of students who will choose according to the major they want to study. So, there are some majors that we are better at, and there are some that Hua University thrives better than us. However, this doesn’t really affect how the public judges which of us is better in terms of popularity. Normal people wouldn’t even go and check the details on this very particular data. They just want the final result. People will just spread the word on who wins. Some will even judge based on how many people around them have someone they know studying at a certain university. If one has many acquaintances who ended up at a particular university as a result, then to them, that particular university will be the better one for those people. Also, the official statistics of the graduation exam will show how many new freshmen each university gets every year. They will think that the one that has the most freshmen will be the one that’s more preferable by society. Of course, there are other factors to why these students chose the universities they applied to. But what we know doesn’t mean that the public knows about it too.. These people only learn about the end result from the news or other people.”
