Chapter 100 : Thunderstorm And Nightmare
Lin Fei’er and Li Peng’s unanimous “I do” made the crowd roar with applause and it lingered in the entire hotel for a long time!
Su Wan, who stood below the emcee podium, still had some uneasiness within but when she thought of Li Peng’s genuine look coupled with the effect of the wedding atmosphere, she felt happy for Lin Fei’er.
It was a great day and she should not be entertaining all sorts of ideas. Su Wan smiled and wished the newlywed couple well in her heart.
After the wedding ceremony, it was the question and answer time. Su Wan heard all kinds of questions and thought it was an eye-opener.
Even Li Peng, who had always been mature and steady, didn’t know where to put his hands when he was asked tricky questions.
In this way, the initially serious atmosphere had now turned livelier and more joyous. It was like an appetizer for everyone.
Since the time emcee walked down from the stage, Lin Fei’er had changed into several sets of evening gowns and trailed behind Li Peng to toast with the guests.
To avoid getting drunk, Li Peng drank all the alcohol while Lin Fei’er only took a sip as a symbolic gesture. Even if only taking sips, Su Wan felt tired for her.
They had to repeat all of this at night during their wedding dinner!
Su Wan massaged her wrist and thought the wedding culture of S City was too exhausting. When she and Jiang Xuecheng planned their wedding, she ought to take this experience into account.
To a lazy person like her, just one wedding reception would be enough. She couldn’t bear two in one day!
As she had gone through the day’s itinerary and knew more people who attended the wedding dinner that night, Su Wan could help more at night, such as helping to settle down the guests.
Su Wan had been busy since she had woken up at six in the morning till now. Even she was extremely tired, not to mention today’s main characters, Li Peng and Lin Fei’er.
Lin Fei’er was especially tired as she had to walk all over in her 7 cm high heels. Su Wan felt the pain just by thinking about it and admiration for Lin Fei’er arose in her heart.
At about ten at night, the wedding dinner ended. Lin Fei’er was worried about Su Wan’s safety and wanted to ask someone to send her home but Su Wan declined.
On the way home, there was a flash of lightning in the sky. Astounded, Su Wan looked at the sky and heard another thunderous boom!
She pursed her lips slightly and thought today was strange. The weather forecast had said S City would be cloudy today and there would not be any thunder.
This weather forecast was not reliable...
As Su Wan walked, she shook her head and sighed. Luckily there had not been thunder during the wedding reception or it would have spoilt the joyous atmosphere.
The spring thunder rolled in suddenly and it started drizzling. The sound of the raindrops falling onto the ground grew louder and louder and coupled with the explosive sound of the thunder, the sounds echoed through S City.
The wind became strong and it blew violently, hurting Su Wan’s cheeks as it brushed past her. She rejoiced for bringing an extra outer coat today. She wrapped herself tightly in the coat and walked quickly toward her house.
Based on Jiang Xuecheng’s usual schedule, he should be asleep by now. Today’s wedding dinner took too long and she had sent a message to Jiang Xuecheng asking him not to wait for her...
At the thought of the man at home, Su Wan’s lips bloomed like a flower and a smile leapt into the bottom of her eyes.
She opened her house door and raised her head to look. From far, she saw a gentle light from the second floor. Su Wan smiled. She knew Jiang Xuecheng had left a night light on for her.
Su Wan put her outer coat, which was half wet down and walked into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. Just as she was putting down her towel, there was a flash of lightning, showing the shadows of the trees outside clearly, just like the atmosphere in the horror movies.
In an instant, the wind blew vigorously and the window in the bathroom shook.
Cling, clang!
The glass broke into numerous shards!
Su Wan jumped backward alertly. Though she had not gotten hurt, looking at the glass shards on the floor made her uneasy. It was very late at night. She’d better ask someone to clear it tomorrow.
She frowned and changed into her pajamas before walking to the bedroom. As she was afraid to disturb Jiang Xuecheng, she did not switch on the lights. She used the light of her mobile phone to assist her.
Never had she expected to hear a rapid gasp the moment she stepped into the bedroom, followed by unclear murmurs. The voice was weak. It sounded like he was fearful or at a loss...
Jiang Xuecheng sleep talked? How could she have not known?
In the dark, Su Wan lowered her head and went close to Jiang Xuecheng’s face, trying to make out what he was saying.
After analyzing for a long time, she finally made out a few fragments of syllables.
“Go...where?...who are you?”
What was all this? Was he having a nightmare?
The man’s voice was deep as usual but that moment, it was hoarse and even had a tremor that he never had before.
Su Wan touched Jiang Xuecheng’s cheeks gently and found that sweat kept breaking across his forehead. Su Wan’s beautiful eyes widened. So Jiang Xuecheng was having a nightmare!
She switched on the wall lamp. When the lamp illuminated, it shone on the man who was dreaming. He was biting his pale lips and his brows were deeply creased. His entire person looked pale.
“Where...do I...go?”
Su Wan heard Jiang Xuecheng’s murmur. There were mixed feelings on his face. He looked like he was thinking, inquiring and in pain.
Su Wan helped Jiang Xuecheng up and brought him to her embrace. Her delicate hand held his broad palm. She could hear his strong heartbeat which was beating terribly fast.
She didn’t know how to wake him up from his nightmare. To be sure, she chose the gentlest way.
“Xuecheng, It’s Wan Wan. I’m here. You must accompany me here and not go anywhere.”
Holding his cheeks, Su Wan repeated the same sentence gently, slowly but firmly over and over again.
***
Jiang Xuecheng rarely dreamed. He was having a very strange dream now, perhaps he was too tired today.
At the beginning of the dream, there wasn’t any sound. It was terribly quiet and the dark was like the surging tide, ready to engulf him anytime.
He was alert and he walked forward step by step.
He didn’t know how long he had been walking. A blood red moon slowly rose from the sky and a strange feeling arose in his heart. Jiang Xuecheng kept feeling the bloody moon was staring at him.
In the blink of an eye, there was a voice from a corner. He could hear someone telling him, “It’s time for you to go back.”
Where was he going?
Jiang Xuecheng was thinking about it and his mind went blank for a moment. Suddenly, he sensed another horrifying thing.
The voice that came from the dark was not speaking Mandarin and it was definitely not a language he had learned. It was a strange syllable.
But he could understand it!
