Old Madam Yao raised her eyebrows. "A gift is a gift," she stated. As long as the thought is there, it's enough."
She was just about to let these people leave.
However, Director Yang lowered his gaze. Nobody knew what he was thinking about. The people around him stuck their heads out to look at the gifts that had been brought, but they were all covered.
"Mom, why don't we take a look at the gifts? There are so many people who want to see it as well."
Qin Man stepped over to the boxes and was just about to open the lid.
However, the person who was holding the gift gripped the box even tighter.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Qin Man felt that she had lost face. She scowled. "What do you mean? I'm a member of the Yao Family, and you still wouldn't let me look at the gift? Who even sent you? Are you here to cause trouble?"
After saying that, she glared fiercely at the people as if she was sizing them up.
She hadn't seen these people before.
However, Qin Man's words made Old Madam Yao clench her jaw. "What are you talking about?" she snapped. "How could you even treat your guests like that? By acting that way, can you still call yourself a member of the Yao Family?"
The man in the white suit was as polite as ever. He glanced over at Director Yang. "If you want to see it, then I'll show it to you."
With that, he waved the person behind him.
Director Yang frowned, unable to understand the background of this group of people in front of him. They didn't look like they had come from aristocratic families.
Could they have come all the way from the Capital?
However, he had never heard of this old lady being close to anyone from Beijing. Could it be that they were from somewhere else?
He couldn't help but be uncomfortable.
He couldn't care less about this family!
All he could hope for now was that these guests were bluffing. Otherwise, he'd lose face in front of these country bumpkins.
Staring at their reaction, he also couldn't help but wonder who had brought them the gift.
The man in the white suit waved his hand and nodded at the old lady sitting in front of him. He was the first one to step forward. He held a gift in his hand, and it was covered with a red cloth.
Without a word, he gently removed the cloth.
Everyone held their breaths.
"That must be top-quality jade!"
"Oh my god, I can actually see the carving with my own eyes! I thought that I could only see this type of quality in pictures. It must be carved by the Old Master from the Wei Family. Don't you think?"
"You're talking about the sculptor, Master Wei? Didn't he say that he'd never carved again in his lifetime? Could it be that he had changed his mind? Or did this belong to his other collection?"
"Even if it wasn't the work of Master Wei, this top-grade white jade must be expensive!"
The crowd was surprised. They didn't expect to see this!
The person gifting this to her was too dangerous.
"It's a good thing that I didn't give the white jade as a birthday present. Just a small piece is enough to make people go crazy. Just look at the size!" A well-dressed man sighed dreamily.
At first, he wanted to use a piece of white jade from his family heirloom as a birthday present.
However, after thinking carefully, he decided against it. It was a good decision too, because if he had really gone with that decision, it would've been nothing compared to this.
"Who gave that to her?"
Director Wang was one of the forerunners of the jewelry industry. He couldn't help but gaze at the gift. Just one glance alone was enough to make him know that this wasn't just a common gift.
The craftsmanship was close to perfect.
Director Yang also gazed at the white jade statue. He tried to find a flaw, but it was to no avail.
There really was nothing wrong with it.
He gritted his teeth.
